KWU SENSHI Gold Cup 2026: Montreal Set to Host a Major Kyokushin Event in North America

The KWU SENSHI Gold Cup 2026 is officially set to bring together athletes from different levels for a high-caliber celebration of technique, competition, and unity within Kyokushin. The event will take place on Saturday, March 14, 2026, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, at the Pierre Charbonneau Community Center, located at 3000 Viau Street.

Held in partnership with KWU SENSHI, the 2026 edition is led by Shihan Dominic Ohan, Shihan Pierre Cataford, and their teams, with the goal of delivering a structured, inclusive, and internationally oriented tournament experience.

Schedule and participation

Competition starts at 9:00 AM, and all competitors are expected to arrive by 8:30 AM. The tournament welcomes beginners, children, adults, and elite-level athletes.

Participants may register for:

  • Kata

  • Kumite

  • or both.

Both Kata and Kumite are organized into three main divisions:

  • Open

  • Elite

  • Master.

In Kata Open, children from white to black belt and adults from white to brown belt compete in groups based on rank and age. Kata Elite is reserved for experienced competitors aged 18+ with black belts, while Kata Master is for black belts aged 35+.

For Kumite Open, bouts are semi-contact, with controlled head techniques and required protective equipment, separated by gender, rank, and age. Kumite Elite features full contact without equipment, divided by gender and weight categories. Kumite Master is also full contact, but with equipment, for experienced competitors aged 35+ with black belts.

Registration

Online registration is scheduled from February 10 to March 7, 2026. The listed entry fees are:

  • $75 for competitors under 18

  • $85 for adults

According to the event information, the fee remains the same whether the athlete enters one or two divisions, regardless of Open, Elite, or Master category.

Spectator tickets

Spectator tickets will be available on the morning of the event, with cash payment only:

  • $20 for adults

  • $15 for children

  • Free for children 5 and under.

Special seminar

The weekend program also announces a special seminar on March 15, led by guest of honor Shihan Glaube Feitosa, adding a technical development opportunity for participants and visitors.
