II Bahia Karate Kyokushin Championship Crowns the Best in Advanced Kata and Absolute Kumite

On August 17, 2024, Salvador hosted one of the largest martial arts events in the state: the II Bahia Karate Kyokushin Championship, organized by KWU SENSHI.

The tournament brought together athletes from across Brazil and was marked by fierce competition, especially in the Advanced Kata and Absolute Kumite (Female and Male) categories.
In the Advanced Kata (Green to Black Belts) category, the standout was Eric Toshio Rodrigues Reis, representing Kyokushin IKO Nakamura from Guarulhos, São Paulo. With an impeccable technical performance and precise movements, Eric secured the championship title, followed closely by Camila Sayuri Rodrigues Reis, also from Guarulhos, who took the silver medal. Third place was claimed by Gabrielle de Souza Ferreira, completing the podium for the São Paulo team.

In the Female Absolute Kumite, the intensity of the matches thrilled the audience. Camila Sayuri Rodrigues Reis, after standing out in kata, also proved to be a well-rounded athlete, dominating her opponents and winning the championship title. Runner-up was Beatriz Xavier Moreira da Silva e Silva from KWU SENSHI Salvador, who fought with determination until the end. Third place went to Havila Conselho Lima Azevedo from Kyokushin Kaikan Coaraci, while Emily Eduarda Costa da Silva, also from Coaraci, finished in fourth place.

In the Male Absolute Kumite, the competitions were equally intense. In the lightweight category, Keiver Nogueira Marques e Silva, from KWU SENSHI in Macapá, Amapá, became champion after demonstrating great agility and strength. Raphael Sierpinska Mendonça Azevedo from KWU SENSHI Salvador took second place, followed by Eric Toshio Rodrigues Reis, who, after winning in kata, also made it to the kumite podium. Diego Reis Dantas, also from KWU SENSHI Salvador, placed fourth.

In the Heavyweight Male Absolute Kumite category, Caio de Souza Alves, from KWU SENSHI Bragança, São Paulo, dominated the matches with his impressive technique and physical strength, winning the championship title. Antonio Lazaro Silva Santos from KWU SENSHI Salvador placed second, followed by Adinaldo Gomes de Jesus and Henrique Fernandes Carvalho, both from KWU SENSHI Salvador, who placed third and fourth, respectively.

The Bahia Karate Kyokushin Championship stood out for its organization and the high level of competitors, especially in the advanced kata and absolute kumite categories, which provided thrilling moments and demonstrated the growing strength of Kyokushin karate in Brazil.
