Shihan Ryu Narushima’s remarkable skills and techniques have left a lasting impact on his students worldwide, motivating them to emulate his success. With an impressive record of knockouts, he was clearly a highly skilled fighter in his time. His legacy continues to inspire aspiring fighters and solidify his status as one of the greats in the martial arts world.

Shihan Ryu Narushima began practicing Karate-do at the age of five under the influence of his father and earned his black belt at the age of 11. At 18, he joined the Kyokushinkai Sohonbu and trained under Sosai Mas Oyama, earning his black belt at 24. He debuted as a fighter at the 8th All Japan Weighted Karate Championships (lightweight division), winning a series of Ippon victories with his spectacular kicking techniques, including the left upper-level Mawashi Kick, and powerful thrusting techniques.

During his time as a fighter, he was known as a “KO artist” and dominated the lightweight division. After retiring, he taught martial arts across the country and around the world.
