Ceará Hosts their First KWU SENSHI Event in Partnership with FCKI
The state of Ceará, located in the Northeast region of Brazil, will host their first official KWU SENSHI event on October 26 in the city of Fortaleza. The event is organized in partnership with the Federação Cearense de Karatê Interestilos (FCKI) and KWU SENSHI Brazil.
The partnership was formally signed between Shihan Tsutomu Morimoto, President of KWU SENSHI Brazil, and Osvaldo Messias, President of CBKI – Confederação Brasileira de Karatê Interestilos (Brazilian Confederation of Inter-Style Karate). This strategic alliance marks an important step toward strengthening contact karate in the state and further integrating it into the national competitive scene.
This inaugural event will feature six Kumite categories in the One Match format, adopted for this edition due to the still limited number of athletes, to stimulate the competitive base and encourage the growth of the sport.
The matches will be divided as follows:
-
Women’s Intermediate – open weight category
-
Men’s Intermediate Super Heavyweight – over 90kg
And four bouts in the Men’s Absolute category:
-
Lightweight – up to 70kg
-
Middleweight – up to 80kg
-
Heavyweight – up to 90kg
-
Super Heavyweight – over 90kg
The event will also feature Shihan Glaube Feitosa as the guest of honor. He is the Director of KWU SENSHI North America and a multiple-time champion in Kyokushin Karate and Kickboxing. His international career and legendary achievements add even more prestige to this historic moment for karate in Ceará.
According to the organizers, this first championship aims to strengthen the local base, establish a regional competitive calendar, and consolidate the presence of KWU SENSHI in Ceará. The expectation is that this initiative will help develop new talents and foster greater integration with other regions of Brazil.
