Atanas Bozhilov Ahead of SENSHI 29 A Serious Opponent, a Winning Strategy, and Thoughts About a Farewell Fight

SENSHI 29 is set to intensify the action in its final edition of the year. On December 6 at 07:00 PM EET /12:00 PM EST/, the Palace of Culture and Sports in Varna, Bulgaria, will host a fight gala featuring competitors from 16 countries, including five Bulgarian fighters. It is an event not to be missed, and tickets are available through Eventim.bg.

Among them is Atanas Bozhilov, who holds a record 23 victories out of 25 appearances in the SENSHI arena. He claimed the SENSHI European title in the -75 kg category in 2023, along with numerous other accolades.

“The preparation is going well, but I have a difficult bout ahead. My opponent is a fighter from the Netherlands — very experienced and quite unorthodox, but I have built a fight plan. I hope to make the audience happy with a win,” Bozhilov said in an interview for the morning show Bulgaria Sutrin.

He admitted he does feel a degree of nervousness before stepping into the ring. “A lot of people watch us, and there’s always tension before a match, but once I get into the ring everything settles into place. My opponent is taller. Thank God my preparation went according to plan — no injuries this time, which has happened before. I’ve reduced the training load and intensity,” Bozhilov added on Bulgaria ON AIR.

The fighter shared that he surpasses his opponent in experience and plans to demonstrate it on December 6. “I accept losses, and they only make me more determined for the next match. We must not let losses break us,” he said firmly.

Bozhilov also helps younger fighters and is always ready to offer advice, encouraging them never to give up. Even after a loss, they can get back in the ring, and SENSHI offers many opportunities to perform with several gala evenings throughout the year.

“The SENSHI fight gala keeps developing more and more. Many international fighters write and call — everyone wants to compete. Perhaps in a few years it will be among the top three in the world,” he concluded.

The full interview with Atanas Bozhilov for the morning segment can be watched on the Bulgaria ON AIR website.
