Ceará successfully hosts its first official KWU SENSHI event

On October 26, the city of Fortaleza, in the state of Ceará, hosted the first official KWU SENSHI Brazil event in partnership with the Ceará Federation of Interstyle Karate (FCKI). The initiative resulted from a strategic partnership between Shihan Tsutomu Morimoto, President of KWU SENSHI Brazil, and Osvaldo Messias, President of the CBKI – Brazilian Confederation of Interstyle Karate.

The event was a great success, bringing together 250 athletes and marking an important step in strengthening contact karate in the Northeast region of Brazil. The event was organized by Sensei Noah Almeida, who led the debut of KWU SENSHI in the state with excellence.

The competition featured two disciplines:

  • Kumite, with six categories in the One Match format, including female intermediate (open), male intermediate super heavyweight (+90 kg), and four male open weight divisions — lightweight (up to 70 kg), middleweight (up to 80 kg), heavyweight (up to 90 kg), and super heavyweight (+90 kg).

  • Kata, with multiple categories that encouraged technical exchange among athletes of different levels.

The championship was honored by the presence of Shihan Glaube Feitosa, KWU SENSHI North America Director and multiple-time Kyokushin Karate and Kickboxing champion, who added even more prestige to the organization’s debut in the state.

The successful realization of this first championship in Ceará represents the beginning of a new chapter for contact karate in the region, establishing a solid competitive foundation, promoting technical development, and creating opportunities for new talents to emerge on the national stage.
