KWU SENSHI JAPAN – Saturday Fights: Building the Next Generation of Fighters

KWU SENSHI continues to innovate in the world of martial arts development with “Saturday Fights,” an event format created by Sensei Jo Miyahara to nurture the next generation of fighters.

As the sibling organization to the professional fight league SENSHI, KWU SENSHI promotes full-contact karate and amateur kickboxing based on Kyokushin principles. “Saturday Fights” reflects our commitment to preparing amateur athletes for the global stage.

Saturday Fights.1 – A Successful Launch

On Saturday, September 6, 2025, we successfully held “Saturday Fights.1” in Japan. We express our heartfelt gratitude to all the athletes, instructors, referees, staff, and parents/guardians who warmly supported the tournament.

This first event also introduced new initiatives — such as a two-round system with 10-point scoring for the KWU SENSHI Champion Class finals — creating a more dynamic and professional atmosphere. Thanks to the athletes’ determination and everyone’s cooperation, the debut of Saturday Fights was a resounding success.

A Professional Atmosphere for Amateurs

Unlike traditional tournaments that stretch from morning to evening, Saturday Fights adopts a single-match format. By opening doors in the late afternoon and staging bouts in the evening, young competitors experience the heightened tension and unique atmosphere of a “night fight” — something usually reserved for professionals.

This approach is about more than wins and losses. It is designed as a stepping stone for athletes who aspire to transition into the professional circuit, fostering not only technical excellence but also the martial spirit needed to represent KWU SENSHI internationally.
