2nd Thanos Dojo Camp

2nd Thanos Dojo Camp to be held in Guarulhos with a full day of Kyokushin training

On April 18, the city of Guarulhos, São Paulo, will host the 2nd Thanos Dojo Camp, an event dedicated to the technical, physical, and disciplinary development of Kyokushin Karate practitioners. The activity will begin at 8:00 a.m. and will bring together 90 athletes from various organizations, creating another important opportunity for integration and improvement.

With a full-day schedule, the camp was designed to provide a complete training experience, combining physical preparation, technical fundamentals, combat practice, and moments of discipline and reflection within the spirit of Kyokushin.

During the morning session, the focus will be on warm-up, stretching, physical preparation, and fighting techniques. The program will begin with athlete reception, check-in, and breakfast, followed by a general warm-up with light running, joint mobility exercises, and dynamic stretching. Participants will then take part in a circuit training session focused on endurance, strength, and explosiveness, including burpees, squats, push-ups, sit-ups, and partner drills.

The technical portion of the morning will then focus on fighting techniques, with athletes divided by rank and age group. Participants will be organized into beginner, intermediate, and advanced adult groups, as well as youth divisions by age, allowing for work centered on attack, defense, counterattack, and conditioning, with the use of protective equipment. The structure also includes instructor rotation between groups, expanding the exchange of experience and giving all participants access to different teaching approaches.

After the lunch and rest break, the afternoon schedule will focus on kihon and kumite. Activities will resume with warm-up, stretching, and the complete KWU SENSHI kihon. A short break for hydration and preparation of protective equipment will follow before the combat session begins.

The kumite session will be organized by age group, with divisions for athletes up to 12 years old, from 13 to 17 years old, and adults. Around 50 bouts are expected, with rounds of approximately 1 minute and 30 seconds, in a technical and moderate-intensity format that prioritizes learning, respect, and awareness of each training partner’s limits.

At the end of the day, participants will go through a moment of relaxation, breathing, seiza, mokuso, and meditation, followed by the Dojokun and the formal closing procedure. The program will conclude with the presentation of certificates, an opportunity for instructors to give feedback to athletes, and the traditional official group photo.

The 2nd Thanos Dojo Camp stands as another important initiative for strengthening Kyokushin Karate in Brazil, promoting not only the technical and physical development of participants, but also essential values such as discipline, respect, fellowship, and the spirit of self-improvement.
